Essay

The complex analysis of the manifold activity of S.G.Navashyn is first carried out in work; the division into the periods of life and creative way of scientist is developed, that includes at itself first Moscow and Petersburg (1881-1894), Kyiv (1894-1915), Tyflis (1915-1923) and second Moscow and Petersburg (1923-1930) periods; the key factors of process of forming of the scientific world view of S.G.Navashyn are found out; the results of scientific researches of scientist are analysed and his contribution to development of botanical science in Ukraine is defined; the scientifically and organizational activity of S.G.Navashyn in Kiev society of naturalists and in position of director of botanical garden of Kyiv St.Volodymyr University are examined; his teaching activity is described.
