The thesis suggests a new approach to the study of the peculiarities of the loans as language universals in the Ukrainian and Russian languages according to the process of language contacts at the beginning of the 20th century. The paper introduces the methodology for comparing the English and American loans in the Ukrainian and Russian languages. The thesis analyses the peculiarities of the accommodation of the anglo-americanisms in the languages mentioned above. The research defines the process of the phonetic and graphic assimilation of the English and American loans, their grammatical adaptation, semantic appliance in the cognate languages, functional and stylistic usage in the conteхt of mass-media. The common and different peculiarities of the accommodation of the anglo-americanisms in the Ukrainian and Russian languages are shown.
