Essay

The dissertation deals with communicative and pragmatic aspects of speech genre “open letter” organization in Ukrainian, Polish and English languages. Within the pragmalinguistic approach the thesis defines the place of the speech genre “open letter” in the system of complex speech genres of epistolary publicism; it also constructs invariant genre model as a discursive category. The dissertation establishes dominant and determinant features which form the open letter genre structure. Furthermore the thesis investigates the influence of the communicative roles of the author and the formal addressee on the character of communication in the open letter; it analyzes the strategies and tactics of the open letter speech impact on the real addressee. Lastly the dissertation elucidates the linguistic and cultural peculiarities and language implementation of the speech genre “open letter” in Ukrainian, Polish, American ethnolinguistic cultures.
