Essay

The dissertation is dedicated to researching the historical development of international law norms applicable to non-international armed conflicts. The legal qualification of internal disturbances and tensions is accomplished. The judicial practice of the International Court of Justice, international ad-hoc tribunals for the former Yugoslavia and Rwanda, internationalized tribunals and the International Criminal Court concerning non-international armed conflicts is explored. Special emphasis is placed on the analysis of international norms implementation concerning internal armed conflicts in such countries as the Republic of Moldova, the Republic of Belarus, Ukraine and the Russian Federation.
