Essay

The thesis deals with the artistic features of suicidal motives are explored in prose of writers so called "Shot Renaissance". Basic attention is spared to analysis of suicidal discourse in literature, which functions on the base of processes of semiotization of thanatological images (in the marginal details of work) and semantization of death (in obtrusive reasons of text). In literature of 20-30's of 20th century the popularity of suicide is explained with the socially historical influencing of communist ideology and common posttraumatic state of post-war time artists.Traumatic war experience appearing in the broken stakes of artists is transformed in such psychomood as fear and looseness, inherent to characters which make a suicide because of the experiencing of military acts. Melancholic motives which consist in symbolizing of loss are the leading reason of suicidal conduct in modernist prose. The suicidal discourse takes its main manifestation in works of M. Khvyl'ovyj, G. Epik and V. Pidmohylnyj.
