Essay

The thesis shows integrated study of the thematic and structural peculiarities of radio programmes compiled by the English, German, Romanian and Ukrainian services of the Radio Ukraine International. The thesis study covered the historical overview of the Radio Ukraine International development within the context of the general formation of the world radio services; summarized and systematized the scientific literature on international broadcasting. The results of the empirical investigations of the genre and topical variety of programmes of the Radio Ukraine International demonstrate the considerable potential. The thesis work also covers the main aspects of the activity of foreign radio stations in Ukraine. Within the framework of the investigation the author defined the peculiarities of the international radio broadcasting as a variety of the international information activity, defined the principles and the task of the Ukrainian world service, its role in the Ukrainian foreign policy, especially in the formation of the image of the Ukrainian state, its role in the consolidation of the Ukrainian Diaspora worldwide.
