Essay

Theoretical analysis of the historical, philosophical, psychological and educational literature shows that in modern science there are different scientific approaches to study the problem of tolerance, namely: historical, medical and biological, philosophical, political, ethical, socio-cultural, psychological and pedagogical. Their study and synthesis enabled the separation of intrinsic characteristics of tolerance, such as: the subject, subjects, principles, levels, types, functions, criteria and structure. The author has defined tolerance as an integral quality of personality that reflects an active moral attitude and readiness for constructive cooperation with individuals and groups regardless their ethnic, social, religious, gender identity, opinion, belief, thinking style and type of conduct (excluding antisocial manifestations of consciousness and behavior) and thus contributes to successful self-identity and self-realization in society.
