Ivaschuk S. Development of Export Potential in Modern Ukrainian Integration Strategy

The dissertation is dedicated to research of theoretical and practical issues of Ukrainian export potential development for grounding key trends and priorities of its improvement in the context of national competitiveness increase. Main principles of modern theories of export oriented economic development have been disclosed. On the basis of the analysis of exogenous and endogenous economic development theories and experience of some countries the author has determined advantages and disadvantages of practical application of each of them. The main advantages of export expansion model have been defined as: increase of productivity, decrease in price fluctuation dependence, stimulation of innovative-investment activity, extension of technological component of development, improvement of goods and services quality, increase of demand for qualified labor force. At the same time essential disadvantages of this model are: leveling of the domestic market and as a result its reduction, decreasing welfare of the vast majority of population, social stratification, regional development unevenness, diminishing of internal investment. The author proves that effective model of export oriented economic development must be grounded on liberal trade regime, macroeconomic stability, similarity of national commodity structure with the international one, geographical diversification of export flows and active government system of export development. The main approaches to export potential interpretation have been analyzed and the author's treatment of this category has been presented. The classification of export potential according to its forms and types has been proposed, the author's classification of its kinds in the system of export competitiveness criteria (stability, effectiveness, quality/innovation and fair competition) has been developed.
