In the thesis the problem of organization of extra-curricular work on the history of the profile classes of secondary school is investigated. The analysis of the readiness of the problem in the theory and practice of teaching history in profile school, found out, that this problem is one of the dimly lit in pedagogical science. There are identified and analyzed the conceptual apparatus of research, the main aspects of the extracurricular work on history as a methodical category, substantiation of methodical conditions of effective organization of extra-curricular activities of high school students. The study reflects the problem of use of various forms and methods of the organization of cognitive activity of pupils, their influence on the efficiency of extra-curricular work on history in profile classes. Methodology organization of extra-curricular work on history, the use of which in the experimental classes contributed to the positive dynamics of the formation and development of the historical competence of high school students are theoretically substantiated and experimentally tested. There are formulated the methodical recommendations for the teachers of history of profile school for the effective organization of after-hour work there.
