Kononuchenko L. The activity of region universal scientific libraries of Ukraine on providing information needs of users (the end of XX - the beginning of XXI century)

The activity of region universal scientific libraries of Ukraine on providing information needs of users in the conditions of formation national-cultural, information society are analyzed in the dissertation. The views of scientists are given on a role of libraries as a cultural-educational, information institutes. On basis of generalization of activity of RUNL investigated the process of providing information needs of users; researched social-demographic characters of complement of readers, their aims of visiting the libraries, reader's profile, forms and content of requiring services, the results of sociologic researches of IN of users are analyzed, which were taken in the libraries of Ukraine in 90-ty years of XX century - first decade of XXI century. The work experience of libraries on providing needs of users is generalized, using as traditional so new information technologies in library practice. A conceptual model of improving information providing of users was proposed, which was determined modern level of electronic information technologies. It was grounded that a system of information channels and means of providing IN of users was formed under influence of tendencies of globalization, internet, media, information space, passing from realization information support of separate branches to complex automation and formation single information space, which will be accessible to every user of the library.
