Sviatun O. The Protection of Rights and Interests of Nationals in the Practice of the Foreign Relations Authorities of Ukraine.

The thesis is devoted to the research of international legal regulation of granting diplomatic and consular protection to nationals abroad. It considers the correlation of such notions as "diplomatic protection" and "consular protection", and also determines doctrinal approaches to the specific features of granting those types of protection. Particular focus is made on the research of diplomatic and consular protection of European Union citizens in the third countries. The author analyses the level of correspondence of the Ukrainian legislation with international legal standards and determines the spheres regarding consular protection where approximation according to these standards should still be applied.
