The thesis suggests a new theoretical and experimental approach to the investigation of the actual problem of the Russian language teaching methods based on the etymological analysis as means of improvement and enrichment of students' vocabulary and thesaurus. The research focuses on the theoretical background of the etymological analysis that has been experimentally tested and proved to be the most efficient means of pupils vocabulary skills improvement. It highlights the new mechanisms and linguistic study patterns according to the etymological principles. The present paper deals with the approach to vocabulary teaching based on the etymological analysis such as principles, methods, teaching strategies and tactics, range of assignments are concerned.
