Essay

The scientific research was conducted in a close connection with the tasks of the foreign policy of independent Ukraine. Special attention was given to the scientific study of the priority directions of Indian foreign policy towards former Soviet countries, including forming processes and instruments of realization. As it turned out, among the priority directions of the Indian foreign policy towards former Soviet Union region are Russian Federation and Central Asian Republics, while former Soviet Union republics of East Europe (including Ukraine), as well as Baltic states and South Caucasia have secondary role. It was founded out that the abovementioned priority directions of the foreign policy of the Republic of India towards former Soviet Union republics were formed on the basis of the positive experience of the prior Indian-Soviet cooperation and depending on the concentration of the short- and longstanding indian national interests (first of all, such interests as: improving of national energy security level, international terrorism and separatism combating, intensification of international economic and military cooperation with the power-states ect). It was determined that India was cooperating with the countries of the former Soviet Union region on bilateral as well as on multirateral levels (including collaboration within the framework of international organizations, forums ect).
