Essay

This PhD study is devoted to the analysis how the role of sympathy as a principle is uncovered in the philosophy. In this work we consider the origins of the concept of sympathy in the philosophical tradition of the Modern era and study the phenomenological foundations of this principle in the works of M.Scheler. We revealed that just in the philosophical anthropology of M.Scheler the term of sympathy was for the first time introduced as a principle without which we could not imagine the action of values, the nature of love, intersubjectivity, sociality, and solidarity. The author proves that the concept "Sachlichkeit" of H.-E.Hengstenberg is a peculiar interpretation of Scheler's principle of sympathy. While in the Ukrainian philosophical tradition dominated the concept on the role of subjective attitude towards the reality, Hengstenberg who followed Scheler focused their attention at the ability of the person to perceive the reality for the benefit of itself i.e. when the subjects are interesting just by themselves.
