Essay

The thesis explores the problem of cognitive development of pupils in the study of World History by means of ICT. The paper grounds the structure of the concept of "self discovery", reveals pedagogical conditions for effective use of ICT, determines the importance of ICT for the development of cognitive independence. Psychological-pedagogical and methodical analysis of the subject researched were conducted. Methodical conditions of teaching the 8th form pupils World History based on ICT were theoretically reasoned and experimentally tested. Qualitative characteristics and the levels of formation of students' competences were determined. The results of the study allow to state stable positive effect of using ICT in the lessons of World History. The worked out technology of education is implemented in schools of Zhitomir, Ilyichevsk, Kyiv, Korostyshiv.
