Gladkova T. Lawmaking in the European Union: the ways of development and improvement

3. The thesis focuses on a comprehensive study of theoretical, legal and institutional framework of the lawmaking in the European Union. The essence, principles, methodology, as well as ways of improvement of the law-making in the EU have been identified. There have been studed the powers, functions and characteristics of the lawmaking subjects in the EU. The mechanisms of the lawmaking in the EU have been analysed. Considerable attention has been paid to the content analysis of lawmaking and legislative procedures in the EU in the context of a contractual mechanism and in the framework of the institutional mechanism as for their improvement in light of the Lisbon Treaty. The information and communication component of the larmakin has been reviewed. The author investigated the system of EU legislation and approaches to reform it in accordance with the provisions of the Treaties as amended by the Treaty of Lisbon.
