Dissertation deals with the problem of studying psychological preconditions of improvement of oral translation activity by students of filological faculties. It was shown that the efficancy of students' translation activity is provided not only by specific knowledge and skills, but also by the development of professional qualities of a specialist. It was proved that oral translation strategies improve the actualization of students' translation activity and influence the adequate translation process. Psychological preconditions of improvement of students' oral translation activity are formulated. They are: 1) the willingness of students to the translation activity (the formation of motivation, content and operation components); 2) perception and understanding of information which contribute to adequate transfer by the means of another language; 3) adherence to three stages of translation: motivational, explorative and executive; 4) the formation of three groups of students' knowledge, abilities and skills necessary for oral translation by a specialist; 5) high level of creative thinking of future interpreter which significantly affects the efficiency of his / her activity.
