Essay

The thesis is devoted to the comprehensive study of the life and work of Professor D. A. Giovani in the context of agromelioration business in Ukraine in the 20's and early 30-ies of XX century. There was considered the life and work of the scientist in the study period. The scientist's contribution and the value of his work for domestic agromelioration have been revealed. Besides, the history of the formation and activities of specialized research institutions in which he worked as a scientist have been reflected. The participation of scientists in industry meetings, conventions, meetings and as well as his role in the popularization of knowledge on land melioration have been analyzed. To deepen the historical and analytical study the periodization of life and activity of D. A. Giovani has been worked out.
