Essay

The thesis suggests a new approach to the study of structural, semantic and pragmatic parameters of subject - predicate relations in the structure of direct and indirect speech acts in the English and Ukrainian languages during the XIX-XXth centuries. The paper introduces methods for analyzing the isomorphic relationship between Subject - Predicate, Theme - Rheme and Direct - Indirect Speech Acts regarded as semantic and pragmatic universals for nominative languages. The research identifies semantic parameters of the speech act subject - predicate structure in English and Ukrainian and presents the qualimetric analysis of theme - rheme relations in the structure of the contrasted speech acts. The qualimetry of subject - predicate structure in English and Ukrainian speech acts is interpreted from the pragmatic angle in different functional styles of the XIX-XXth centuries that leads to the overall description of the common trends in arrangement of subject - predicate relations in the structure of speech acts in the English and Ukrainian languages.
