Kletska T. The outstanding Ukrainian mathematician and educator M. E. Vashchenko-Zakharchenko (1825-1912).

The dissertation is devoted to the research of life and activity of the famous Ukrainian mathematician, educator and popularizer of science M. E. Vashchenko-Zakharchenko (1825-1912). The work depicts the major life stages, scientific, educational and social activities of the scientist in the context of formation and development of higher mathematics education in Ukraine. In order to make a profound historical and analitical research of M. E. Vashchenko-Zakharchenko's creative development periodization was performed, the major phases of his formation were identified, scientific works were investigated and multifaceted social activity was analized. The above steps provide with a decision on his significant contribution to the development of such sectors of the national science as mathematical analysis, operational calculus, probability theory, theory of functions of complex variable, algebra and number theory, elementary analytic geometry, history of mathematics.
