Object - dialect phraseological units (DPU) in prose by L. Martovich, V. Stefanyk, G. Khotkevich, M. Cheremshyny. Goal – to analyze the DPU functioning in literary texts by L. Martovich, V. Stefanyk, G. Khotkevich, M. Cheremshyny taking into account the achievements of contemporary phraseology and dialectology as well as to define the opportunities of DPU in the texts, to determine their role both in expressing local coloring and in making an appropriate stylistic effect. Methods – descriptive, interpretation, structural, component and contextual analysis. Novelty – for the first time a complex research of dialect phraseological units in prose of Pokuttia and Hutsul’schuna writers in the end of XIX – beginning of XX c. is carried out. Results – a complex research of dialect phraseological units in prose of L. Martovich, V. Stefanyk, G. Khotkevich, M. Cheremshyny is carried out, the peculiarities of formal, structural and semantic transformations of DPU in literary texts are defined and determined taking into account the situational and contextual conditions; expressive means of DPU used by writers are outlined; the original phraseological material is implied into scientific practice; the peculiarities of some DPU semantics are determined and their relations with national cultural traditions of the Ukrainians are analyzed.
