Essay

The model of professional competence development of biology teachers in postgraduate teacher education has been theoretically grounded, developed and experimentally verified in the thesis. Pedagogical conditions that ensure the efficiency of professional competence development model of biology teachers in postgraduate teacher education have been determined: changes in the organization of educational process, updating the content (curricula, programs, etc.) at the institutions of postgraduate teacher education, constructing the postgraduate educational process on the basis of an optimal combination of traditional and innovative forms and methods of teaching, implementation of new thematic educational modules, elaboration of methodological support of the development of professional competence development of biology teachers in institutions of postgraduate education. Conceptually-terminological apparatus of the research has been specified (in particular, the essence of the concept of "the development of professional pedagogical competence of biology teacher at the institution of postgraduate education"), criteria and indicators of professional competence levels of biology teachers.
