Essay

The object of the research is teaching a second foreign language to language department students at universities. The goal of the research is to give theoretical substantiation, suggest ways of practical implementation and provide experimental efficacy verification of the methods of teaching a second foreign language using Internet resources on the basis of English as the first target language. Methods used in the research are theoretical, empirical and statistical. The novelty of the research lies in the following: the theoretical substantiation of the methods of teaching a second foreign language using Internet resources on the basis of English as the first target language has been given; the principles of teaching second foreign language using Internet resources and on the basis of English as the first target language have been defined; the Internet teaching database has been classified; the selection and evaluation criteria, as well as the means of their adjustment to the teaching/learning process of future interpreters and translators from/into second foreign language and on the basis of English as the first target language at the initial stage have been defined. The model of teaching a second foreign language on the basis of the first foreign language (English) using Internet resources at the initial stage has been developed. The definition of Internet teaching resources has been specified. The theory and methods of teaching a second foreign language to language department students have found further development. As a result, the methods of teaching a second foreign language using Internet resources supplemented with related Internet-based activities to language department students at the initial stage on the basis of English have been developed and tested in practice. Recommendations on how to organize such a teaching/learning process have also been elaborated. The efficacy of the method implementation has been proved to be high. The field of implementation: Pedagogy, higher educational institutions.
