Essay

The object of the research is development socio-cultural competence of non-linguistic students in the course of General English. The aim of the research is theoretical explanation and practical development of the methodology of teaching non-linguistic students lifestyle communicative behavioral patterns of the Americans. The methods used in the research are theoretical, empirical and statistical ones. The novelty of the research is that the methodology of teaching daily lifestyle communicative behavioral patterns of the Americans to the students of non-linguistic specialties has been theoretically explained. The model of teaching daily lifestyle communicative behavioral patterns to the students of non-linguistic specialties comprising preliminary and principal stages, educational activity organization forms and teaching aids have been developed. The notion of culture shock has been specified in the context of intercultural communication. The methodology of development of socio-cultural competence of the students of non-linguistic specialties has been further developed. As a result the methodology of teaching daily lifestyle communicative behavioral patterns of the Americans to the students of non-linguistic specialties and the corresponding system of exercises has been developed. The efficacy of implementation is high. The sphere is pedagogical sciences, higher educational institutions.
