Kotendzhy L. Historical and Social Aspects of the World Powerlifting

For the first time in this paper there was conducted complex research of world powerlifting that allows to analyze the fundamental laws of the process of its formation for creative comprehension and forecasting future trends and perspectives of all sports movement. On the basis of identified quantitative and qualitative characteristics of the achievements at the world championships and considering the expert opinion we divided countries-members of the International Powerlifting Federation (IPF) into groups. The paper first presents comparative characteristics of power sports. There were theoretically grounded and systematized conceptual approaches concerning the study of powerlifting prevalence around the world, the regularities of dynamics of leading athletes competitive activity, historical features of world records, features of the special equipment using, activity of IPF governing bodies. There was supplemented methodological basis of the world powerlifting development process by implementing experimental model of organizational and managerial mechanism of IPF.
