Jasinski M. Ethnocultural clubs Galicia late XIX - early XX century as a manifestation of national identity

Comples historical and cultural research of the Ukrainian Galichina ethnical and cultural clubs at the end of ХІХ - to the beginning of ХХ centuries was realized at the first time in the thesis. On the basis of scientific conceptions analysis the notion "club" as the civil organization united individuals on the base of cultural identity is specified. The author of dissertation defined the notion "ethnical and cultural club" as association of the citizens, organized on the basis of community of his members ethnic culture, programmatic principles of conservation, distribution and development of this culture. The thesis proved that pre-conditions of the Galichina ethnical and cultural organizations were traditions of collective activity, social and public work, and also presence of the bourgeois, monastic and military fraternities. The author considered activity of religious, educational, economic, artistic, paramilitary, political and other Galichina ethnical and cultural organizations at the end of ХІХ - to beginning of ХХ centuries, which activity was directed on Ukrainians ethnic culture defence and development. It was substantiated that ethnical and cultural associations were as the prototypes of public and government authorities and became the effective method of the ethos self-organisation round of the national idea.
