The dissertation's subject matter is the specificity of functioning of polysemous words with thermal meaning in phraseological units, which is analysed within the framework of investigation of the general problem of interrelationships between the lexico-semantic and lexico-phraseological levels of the language system. It is the first dissertation having, as its object, English, German and Ukrainian phraseological units with nouns, adjectives and verbs of high-temperature semantics.
