Object - course sharp renal insufficiency at different functional conditions of the Pineal Body; the purpose - to find out features of course sharp renal insufficiency at different functional conditions of the Pineal Body; methods - experimental; physiological; biochemical; functional; pharmacological; statistical; results - it has been established that acute renal insufficiency in the dynamics of its devel-opment (from the 1st to 5th day) results in an enhancement of the processes of free-radical oxidation with a significant accumulation of the products of lipid and protein peroxidation and the reduced activity of the defence antioxidant system both in the blood plasma and renal tissue; the greater pathological changes already manifest on the first day, and with tendency towards a decrease up to the 5th day; it has been stated that different conditions of lighting can qualitatively influence on the clinical course of acute renal insufficiency; thus, a permanent darkness decreases the manifestations of acute renal insufficiency, reducing the pro-oxidant influence on the kidneys, and an antioxidant system of the blood plasma; a permanent lighting, on the contrary, promotes a more pronounced manifestation of peroxidation processes both in the kidneys cortical substance and in the blood plasma; using melatonin - a strong antioxidant - under these conditions corrects prooxidant-antioxidant homeostasis of blood and kidney splasma of rats, regenerate the renal functional activity that is the basis for expanding the possibilities of using this agent for the purpose of the correcting renal pathology, the restoration of renal functional activity, an enhancement of the antioxidant defence and a reduction of macromolecules peroxidation intensity both in the blood plasma and kidney tissue; the data obtained indicate that melatonin essentially influences on the experi-mental acute renal insufficiency manifesting nephroprotective properties; different conditions of lighting can also essentially influence on the clinical course of acute renal insufficiency/
