Essay

The thesis highlight the phenomenon of prophecy in Ukrainian literature of the first third of the twentieth century on the material of M. Kotsjubinsky’s, I. Lipa’s, G. Khotkevych’s, S. Pilipenko’s, N. Koroleva’s, V. Pidmohylny’s, N. Khvylyovy’s, J. Yanovsky’s, A. Dosvitny’s, V. Vynnychenko’s prose. The predominant archetype of a biblical prophet and the ways of its transformation and conversion are defined. The stylistic range of the aesthetics of the prophetic discourse is predicated: neo-baroque, impressionism, realism, religious symbolism, vitaism, neo-romanticis, socialist realism and so on. The prophetic impulses, that confirm heritable link of national literature with "eternal" themes of the world literature, have actualized the secondary myth (neo-myth), which was encoded by symbols and semiotic signs of ancient cultures, parabolic genres, ecumenical experiments in historiosophical conceptions.
