Plytus O. The role of Society "Ridna shkola" in the book movement of Galicia at the end of XIX - the first third of the twentieth century

The dissertation investigates the contribution of the first Ukrainian Pedagogical Society (UP S) "Ridna Shkola" in the development of the Ukrainian book movement. It was determined that this area of the "Ridna Shkola" activity was not the subject of complex historical-bibliological researches. Significant historiographic and source base made it possible to fill essential gaps in the investigation of this direction of the society "Ridna Shkola" activity. It was proved that UPS became the first educational institution in Galicia, which began mass production of literature for children and young people what had historical significance for the development of national culture. It was analyzed t he main trends in the area of distribution of books of the UPS - the organization of a network of libraries, bookselling and bibliographic work. For the first time it was realized the periodization of the development of a library network of the Society, defined the sources of completing of library funds , introduced into the scientific circulation the information on the Central store UPS;it was discovered the basic tasks of bibliographic activity and its impact on the intensity of distribution of books and popularization of the ideas of "Ridna Shkola".
