The thesis focuses on researching the methodology of teaching future interpreters and translators listening comprehension of TV news in English. The research provides the analysis of TV news discourse and psycholinguistic and pedagogical prerequisites of teaching listening comprehension of broadcast news in English. The main difficulties which students are exposed to while watching the news in English have been specified, and skills, necessary for successful comprehension and understanding of TV news have been determined. The criteria for selecting TV news have been developed and the system of exercises to teach students comprehend TV news in English has been substantiated and elaborated. Three stages of teaching listening comprehension of broadcast news have been introduced. The effectiveness of the methodology has been verified and proved experimentally. Methodological guidelines have been developed in order to facilitate the teaching process organization.
