Essay

The thesis presents an analysis of scientific, engineering, organizational and social activities outstanding domestic design engineer, a scientist in the field of locomotive Levy L., his historical importance and achievements in the development of the railways in the end of XIX - beginning of XX centuries. Systematized various materials, the author shows a picture of the development of the rail transport science and technology in the Russian Empire and Ukraine comparing this process with overseas. It is proved that the scientific and educational works of the scientist became the basis for the development of new ideas and plans for further technical studies.
