Essay

Ukrainian decoration with design of the end of the XIX-th. - beginning of the XXІ-th. century is investigated in the thesis. Pre-history of Ukrainian decoration with design appearing as one of the Ukrainian traditional culture components is elucidated, three periods of the development are lighted: the end of the XIX-th - beginning of the XX-th century, the middle of the 30-th, middle of the 80-th of the XX-th century and modern period. Folk ceremonies, customs and religious beliefs connected with decoration with design making and their usage in Easter ceremony are considered. On the basis of broad circle of sources the techniques of decoration with design making, their spreading in Ukraine is determined and showed. Compositional, decorative and regional peculiarities of painting are considered.
