Сontains the abstract of the theoretical approaches to determining the nature of the concept "global currency system" as part of the world economy. Also we identify the essence and main features of the global monetary system in the process of transformation of the global financial architecture and the current trends of development of the global monetary system. The global imbalances and currency crises in the context of the formation of the preconditions for transformation of the global monetary system are analyzed. This paper investigates the problems and directions of the transformation of the mechanisms of monetary and financial policies at global, regional and national levels.
