Essay

The dissertation contains the research of logic of transformation and conceptualization of bodyness in modern European culture. Basic terms of the modern and postmodern conception of bodyness were analyzed. It is shown, that the understanding of body in culture before Modernity can be characterized as movement from universalism of the body in ancient culture to the dichotomy of body and soul in European Middle Ages. This dichotomy was the point, from which the conceptualization of bodyness in the philosophy of Modernity began.
