Essay

The thesis is devoted to the philosophical and anthropological analysis of the peculiarities of the phenomenon of solitude actualization in modern and postmodern culture. Particular attention is paid to the social cultural dependence of solitude. Significance of the terms "solitude", "seclusion" and "estrangement" is specified through their correlation. The dialectics of solitude begins with the idea that it is necessary to leave the common sense of a social group and to reach the state of Self. As a result, an individualized being can become the subject of a dialogue which will lead to the removal of solitude. In the thesis, the main attention is paid to detection of the typology of solitude. According to the author, there are four main patterns of solitude: ontological, existential, social and cosmic. It is proved that actualization of solitude depends on the succession of the social and cultural factors which are immanent to the postmodern society. Among such factors there are urbanization, megalopolis way of social life and virtual mode of communication in postmodern world. Key words: solitude, seclusion, estrangement, isolation, dialogue, modern culture, postmodern culture.
