Komlykova H. The origin, formation and development of agricultural research cases in Sumy region

The object of study is the activity of agricultural research institutions of Sumy region in the context of the history of Ukrainian agricultural science. The aim of the research is to objectively reproduce the evolution of agricultural research case in Sumy region based on the wide range of historical sources from the middle of the eighteenth to the twenty-first century. Methodological research instrument consisted of general scientific methods (analytical, synthetic, descriptive) and special (problem and chronological, comparative and historical, of source, of archive, method of periodization). A comprehensive study of the history of formation and development of agricultural research case in Sumy region has been carried out in the thesis for the first time, a complex of factors to have a decisive influence on the formation of research case in Sumy region have been identified; the main directions of scientific research sector of branch research institutions have also been identified, their contribution into the development of domestic agriculture have been analyzed; some unknown documents from institutions' archive that reveal the activities of agricultural research institutions in the region have been found and put to the scientific circulation; periods of formation and development of agricultural research cases in Sumy have been proposed. The practical significance of the results is to fill the gaps in the history of domestic agricultural science with the systematized material. The theoretical conclusions, generalizations and specific factual material of the research are the base for further research in the history of national science and technology; they can be used in the preparation of monographs, textbooks and reference books, and for special courses on the history of agricultural sciences.
