The dissertation is devoted to the research of peculiarities and main tendencies of historic and cultural development of the Dnister River left bank middle region (within Khmelnytska Oblast) from the 9th c. to the 13th c. Information on archaeological antiquities of the Dnister River left bank middle region from the 9th c. to the 13th c. is systematized in form of catalogue, archaeological maps, tables, and pictures. The issues of circumstances and dynamics of settling the region and of burial customs development are discussed. An approximate population number in the region in the 12th-13th c. is determined, various spheres of habitants' husbandry activity are described, and comprehensive description of burial sites is made. Historic role of settlements mentioned in chronicles, circumstances of forming a historic region Ponyzzia, and its connection to Podillia are interpreted in a new way. Localization and dating of certain settlements of the 9th-13th c. are specified. New sources are presented to the scientific circulation.
