Essay

The dissertation is devoted to the problem of competence approach in foreign language teachers training in German universities. The research has proved that the central idea of reforming the German system of teacher training was to improve preparation of graduates to the professional activity and ensure their competitiveness in the labour market. As a result, an important place in educational science in Germany was occupied by the concept of competencies and qualifications as desirable outcomes of training.
