Dissertation is devoted to the proof of the idea that the Crimean War and the social and political crisis have determined the vector of the dynamics of domestic culture in the second half of the XIX century.The factors that had influence on the processes of cultural development during the Crimean War and the early post-war years are determined. Author has suggested a classification of factors of the dynamics of culture (externalist and internalist).Artifacts that reflect the cultural situation during the Crimean War and the first years after the war are the subject of analysis. They are: literary works, little-known poetry, stories of eyewitnesses and participants in the war, cartoons, cheap popular print, canvas of painters, theater, trends of fashion.Proved that owing to political crisis and war, analytical and protest sentiment have been accumulated in society. This also applies to the rise of patriotism and national feeling, which, in turn, defined the constructive trends and directions of development of the national culture.
