The thesis is based on a wide range of sources and scientific literature by generalizing comprehensive study of image of tree in the traditional rites of Ukrainians, identified nationwide and regional peculiarities of the existence of this symbolism, and especially the cult preservation of trees in the Ukrainian spiritual culture in the context of synthesis of pre-Christian and Christian worldview representations.The place and role of trees in the rites of spring, summer and autumn, winter Ukrainian holidays investigated. IThe essence of rituals involving trees in maternity, wedding, funeral rites, and its symbolic use in construction and traditional medicine.
