Essay

Stabilization problems are solved for mechanical systems described by nonlinear differential equations. A description of the attractor of trajectories of nonlinear systems is obtained for almost all initial conditions. By using the reduction principle, asymptotic estimates of solutions are proved constructively for the case of q pairs of purely imaginary roots. The new approach for solving of the minimax optimal stabilization problem in the critical case is proposed. Necessary conditions for the stabilizability of control systems with three critical Hamiltonians are obtained. Results proved can be used to further develop the stability theory of the motion of nonlinear mechanical systems.
