Essay

The dissertation presents the data of complex investigation and surgical treatment of 224 patients with postoperative ventral hernia. Examination included assessment of symptoms, measurement of intra-abdominal pressure, assessment of central hemodynamic and breathe function as well as APACHE 2 scoring. Risk of intra-abdominal pressure syndrome depended of hernioplastic type. Intraabdominal pressure level after the operation influenced on the severity of the patient, and the development of severe (decompensated) forms of increasing intra-abdominal pressure syndrome with impairment of function of respiratory and cardiovascular systems. Tension free hernioplasty reduced the risk of the compartment syndrome. Developed hernioplasty selection algorithm was useful in clinical practice and proven to be clinically effective. An assessment of long-term results of treatment of patients with postoperative ventral hernias revealed advantage of tension free methods.
