Object - professional self-determination, the objective - theoretical and empirical argumentation of success achievement motivation as a determinant of professional self-determination of engineering students; methods - theoretical and methodological analysis, empirical data collection methods (observation, interviews, surveys, questionnaires, tests), organization and generalization of psychological data, theoretical modeling, methods of mathematical statistics; novelty - an approach under which the professional self-determination of students is stipulated by motivational factors in a complex of their personal characteristics, with the leading role given to success achievement motivation is first introduced; motivational and predictive model of professional self-determination of a student is proposed, in which such key components as cultural relevance, economic efficiency, reflexive assessment of own professional training and effectiveness are presented; scientific understanding of success achievement motivation in the professional self-determination of students through highlighting of the main motivational positions of productive personality's professionalization (personal-behavioral position, cognitive position on the success or failure, information and controlling position, reflexive and sense position of positive ideas about professional image) is improved; consideration of success achievement motivation in the process of professional self-determination of students as stimulating mechanism of professional activity of a person is suggested, in which social, economic, reflexive and target signs of motivational trend of effective professionalization are combined; concepts on the differences of motivational factors of professional self-determination according to the trend of professional training and gender criterion along with concepts on integrative meaning of success achievement motivation in providing of professional self-determination of engineering students obtained further development; results - comprise identifying of the scientific approach to the research of motivational determinants of professional self-determination of engineering students, establishing of motivational factors of professional self-determination of engineering students in the complex of their personal characteristics, justifying of the integrative role of success achievement motivation in the psychological support of professional self-determination of engineering students; the results of scientific research can be used as meaningful guide to develop specific recommendations to optimize the professional self-determination of the future engineering specialists; field - psychology
