Mikhalchuk V. The Art-gallery's Activities in the System of Artistic Culture of Independent Ukraine

The dissertation performs the history of the art-gallery's activities in contemporary Ukraine. The study found that art-collecting and art-gallery's activities in all their forms have always been the specific instrument of market regulation of supply and demand in the fine arts, raising public awareness regarding the creative process and art education of citizens. Analysis of creative and organizational features of the development of Ukrainian art of the Soviet period shows that it was not a part of the international art processes. While the art in the whole world developed freely according to the laws of market relations, the main role in which played commercial art-galleries, in our country, the relationship between the audience and the artists were tightly controlled by the state. Cultural and historical situation in the context of the art-gallery's activities in contemporary artistic environment in Ukraine is going through hard times. Considering the main form of social activity art-galleries and especially in Ukraine, shows not only such a traditional form as an exhibition, but also provides examples of special interest audience, various actions, meetings with authors, performance art, music, workshops, etc. Separately considered such an important form of activity as the production of various printed materials: catalogs, brochures on contemporary arts and artists that being gathered in total form a unique archive of contemporary art.
