The object of study is the transformation processes biotech sector of the world economy in the context of globalization. The aim is to develop theoretical and methodological foundations of research on the transition biotech sector of the world economy and the development of scientific and practical recommendations for the development of national biotechnology sector in the context of globalization. Methods: method of theoretical generalization, grouping and classification methods, the method of statistical analysis, the index method and comparison method, methods of structural and functional analysis. Theoretical results: lies in deepening the theoretical and methodological foundations of the study transformations biotech sector of the world economy in the context of globalization and the development of scientific and practical recommendations for the development of biotechnology in the world economy. Scientific novelty: the first time: a conceptual directions of development of pharmaceutical industry of Ukraine extended definition bioeconomy; improved: classification components biotechnology; identified systemic barriers formation and development of biotech sector of countries with developing economies, defined measures to eliminate these systemic barriers; receive further development: definition of "globalization of the world economy", developed the flowchart of the global biotechnology sector.
