Elena M. B. Ya. Bukreiev (1859-1962) - scientist, teacher and organizer of the Mathematical sciences

Thesis deals with the life and work of the famous Ukrainian mathematician, teacher and organizer of Mathematical science B. Ya. Bukreiev (1859-1962). The paper reflects the main stages of the scientist's life, his scientific, educational and social activities in the context of the formation and development of Higher Mathematical education in Ukraine. In order to make a profound historical and analytical research of B. Ya. Bukreiev creative development periodization was performed, the major phases of his formation were identified, scientific works were investigated and multifaceted social activity was analyzed. This has enabled the author of the paper to conclude that a vast contribution to the development of such branches of Ukrainian science as the Theory of Special Functions and the Theory of Determinants, the Theory of Functions of Complex Variable and Series Theory, the Theory of Surfaces, Analytical, Differential and Non-Euclidean Geometry, Calculus of Variations and Differential and Integral Calculus has been made by B. Ya. Bukreiev.
