Lunyo L. Social nature of a person's name (based on metric books in Latin, Ukrainian and Polish, the 19th - the first half of the 20th century).

The dissertation is dedicated to the research of social nature of a person's name in sociolinguistics and onomastics. The topicality of the research is stipulated by the necessity to expand, under conditions of modern paradigm, the categorical framework of the Ukrainian sociolinguistics and onomastics by way of analyzing antoponymic units in unity with their extralinguistic characteristics; by the need to develop the methodology for describing proper names as a separate segment of linguistic reality of the city; by the importance of studying the archive materials on proper names of the city of Lviv which had been introduced to scholarly circulation for the first time. The aim of the dissertation is to substantiate the characteristics of the notion "social nature of a person's name" in the context of sociolinguistics and onomastics.
