Solovyova L. Scientific contribution by V. Ye. Timonov (1862-1936) to the hydro-engineering and water transport

The thesis is devoted to the analysis of scientific, engineering, organizational and public activities by V. Ye. Timonov - an outstanding Ukrainian engineer-hydrotechnician and a prominent scientist in the field of water transport. The historical significance of V. Ye. Timonov's personality and his achievements in developing the hydrotechnician sciences and water transport at the end of the XIX - the first third of the XX centuries have been disclosed in the thesis. Having systematized the diverse sources of material, the author of the dissertation describes the evolution of the hydrotechnics and water transport in the Russian Empire and Ukraine, comparing it to that of abroad. In the thesis the author proves that V. Ye. Timonov's scientific and pedagogical contribution has become the foundation for the new ideas developing and for the further technical/technological researches successful carrying as well.
