Essay

The dissertation highlights the results of research into the problem of forming general labour skills in primary school students with visual impairments and intellectual disabilities with the help of using “Lego” construction sets. The development of the issue of developing general labour skills among primary school students with visual impairments and intellectual disabilities was determined through an analysis of Ukrainian and international psychological, pedagogical, research and teaching methodology literature, and its topicality for the sphere of special education was evaluated. The features of labour activities of primary school students with visual impairments and intellectual disabilities have been specified. The characteristics of forming general labour skills among Grade 1-4 students were investigated. The methodology recommendations on using a “Lego” construction set in the educational process at a special comprehensive school for children with visual impairments were developed. An experimentally tested methodology of forming general labour skills in primary school students with visual impairments and intellectual disabilities is presented, based on using a “Lego” construction set. This methodology consists of inter-connected structural elements - a set of exercises and tools aimed at developing the skills of task self-orientation, the skills of planning the way of creating a product, the skills of fulfilling some work following the established plan, and the self-control skills.
